his paring knife is made from super stainless steel called CPM-S30VN. Its edge retention and toughness is very high. All the benefits of carbon steel while being stainless. The handle is Bubinga wood and brass. Bubinga is a very naturally resilient wood and lovely to work with. The shape of the handle gives a better grip for those intricate jobs. This knife is tough enough to be an EDC and hold up to farm work! The blade shape is meant to mirror the thumb for an intuitive feel. Knives that last a lifetime are worth having. I bought both this paring knife and the 8″ kitchen knife by the same company. Both are beautiful knives with a very sharp edge. They appear well-made. I saw another review that had a negative comment about the handle. I don’t see anything wrong. It is strong, sturdy, made with natural wood and fits comfortably in my hand. I plan to put a little linseed oil on the handle to help the wood last a lifetime.

This is the second knife I’ve purchased from this company because I just love them. They look so beautiful and add to the aesthetic experience I love from cooking. And they are quite sharp! I wish there was an entire set I would purchase immediately although luckily they blend in well with what I already have!
